Davy is an ex international swimmer, having represented Ireland and Ulster in the 1980’s.
He has been coaching at Ards since 2007 and has coached squads throughout the club since then, either as an assistant coach or squad coach.
Davy qualified as a level 3 senior coach in 2007, he has been coaching the performance squad since 2010, assisting Nelson Lindsay and Gearge Morrow, before taking over the reigns as head coach in 2017.
I joined Ards A.S.C. in 1984 when my daughters joined the club, one as a beginner the other as a swimmer. The next year I started to help out on poolside initially in the small pool. I also joined the committee where I held the post of PRO for I think 8 years, writing the weekly “Swimming Notes” in the Chronicle and looking after fund raising.
I gradually worked my way up through the various club training levels , gaining first a teaching qualification and then the various coaching qualifications. From March 1994 until July 2017 I was privileged to hold the positions of Joint Head Coach with George Morrow and then Head Coach to the Club. Since August 2017 I have assisted our Head Coach with the Performance Squads.
AGE GROUP / YOUTH
Hi! I previously worked in the clubs entry squad programme before taking over the junior squad with nuala Glynn in August 2011. On completion of level 2 coach qualification took over the age group squad in August 2013.
Have coached the junior and senior performance squads under the mentorship of Nelson and Davy and have also had the privilege of coaching experience at Ulster squad level.
